Born in Bonn. Studied Visual Communication at the FH Aachen and the Zurich University of the Arts (Bachelor of Arts), as well as Data Visualization at Parsons The New School for Design (Master of Science). From 2015 to 2018, worked in Paris, responsible for the "Digital Media Department" at Atelier Intégral Ruedi Baur.
Since 2018, based in Berlin, working as an information designer at the intersection of design, science, technology, and visual anthropology (including at the Innovation Center for Mobility and Societal Change, Labor K / Institute for Urban and Regional Planning). In 2020, co-founded the design studio "Visual Intelligence" with sociologist and designer Danielle Rosales.
Between 2017 and 2021, held various teaching positions at FH Aachen. Since autumn 2021 teaching and researching associate in the Class for Informationdesign at the University of the Arts Berlin.

Intelligence
Design, particularly information design, has the potential to go far beyond its conventional function as a service. Through the systematic organization and visualization of data, making previously unseen relationships and interdependencies visible, and by offering an extensive range of methodologies, it plays an innovative role in research projects. This role is not limited to the transfer of existing knowledge but also extends to the creation of new knowledge. Through the iterative process of drafting, designing, prototyping, and application, information design acts as a catalyst for innovative research practices, thereby expanding the boundaries of traditional research methods. Since 2019, this approach has proven effective in both co-authorship of research proposals and in interdisciplinary cooperation and co-research in various configurations.

projects
Since 2024, Massenmedium Bilderbogen: Representative of the Colonial Archive. Testing Decolonial Digitization Strategies (Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin)
Bilderbogen are considered a mass medium of the 19th century. These sheets served various functions, providing both information and entertainment to a broad audience. They also reflected and produced popular colonial racism. In this project, a partial collection of approximately 500 Bilderbogen from the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin (SSB) will be cataloged, digitized, scientifically analyzed, and made accessible to the interested public. The project places particular emphasis on exploring how and to what extent Bilderbogen addressed colonial contexts and/or disseminated colonial-racist imagery and text content, and how these can be published in an appropriate manner.

Since 2021, The Map is the Methodology: Researching Cartographic Visualization Strategies as Tools for Knowledge, Transformation, and Dialogue

2022–2024, Youth Spatial Knowledge: The Constitution of Online, Offline, and Hybrid Spaces (SFB 1265, TU Berlin)
With an innovative, project-specific multi-method approach, we aim for a comprehensive perspective that does not reconstruct the constitution of "online spaces" and "offline spaces" as separate processes, but as mutually dependent processes that also generate "hybrid spaces." The methodological design also allows for deeper insights into the role of materialities (e.g., the shape of specific locations, the significance of individual artifacts) in the spatial knowledge of young people. The comparison of Germany (Berlin) and Peru (Lima) enables us to explore to what extent global types of spatial constitution can be identified, considering the globally converging (urban) spaces of childhood and youth and the impact of digital mediatization on the spatial knowledge of young people.

2020–2023, Critical Mapping in Municipalist Movements (TU Berlin)
CMMM is a practice-oriented research project designed to support civil society actors in their struggles for just societies and cities, aiming for profound political transformation. In their quest to change power relations, mobilizers in municipalist movements continuously rethink and reshape instruments and mediums. This project focused on critical mapping, which constitutes an "act of power," one that transcends theorization to establish different perspectives on realities, aiming to change narratives and discourses.

2019–2020, Typ-o.eu, Typography Classification Web App (FH Aachen)
The foundational course in typography aims to teach the recognition of form principles, as well as knowledge of semantic, historical, technical, economic, and legal aspects. Due to the digital revolution, the number of available fonts has increased exponentially over the last 20 years. Previously valid classifications and teaching concepts are now outdated and no longer effective in basic studies. In a newly designed curriculum with a blended learning scenario, students are encouraged to explore typography with curiosity and research. A new playful-interactive self-learning offering was developed for this purpose. In the in-person course, a flipped classroom concept is employed, emphasizing competency demonstration through presentations, reviews, discussions, and group work.

My approach to knowledge transfer —which does not only encompass not only my teaching at the University of the Arts Berlin, but also workshops, conferences or publications.
— prioritizes a holistic understanding of (information)design. This is achieved by blending practical projects with theoretical insights, cultivating learning environments that promote creativity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Integrating informationdesign principles with contemporary technologies and methodologies is a cornerstone of my teaching.
My aim is to inspire participants to become critical thinkers and innovators, with expertise to push the boundaries of design and set new benchmarks in their respective fields.

Visual Intelligence is a transdisciplinary information design studio founded in 2020 by sociologist and designer Danielle Rosales and information designer Robin Coenen. After years of contributing to prestigious international and interdisciplinary design projects, the two established the studio to bring together visual experts from diverse fields, ranging from architecture to programming. Each team member is skilled in translating information, data, knowledge, identities, or ideas into tangible and accessible experiences. The studio's clients include institutions from the fields of science, culture, and civil society, such as the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, Stadtmuseum Berlin, Museum für Naturkunde (Berlin), district museums, ISD, Decolonize Berlin, EOTO, TU Berlin, and many more.
